About StetiMUN

StetiMUN (Stettin Model United Nations) is a three-day long, annually held simulation of a United Nations session organised by students of IB World School No. 3885 and the II Liceum im. Mieszka I in Szczecin. The official language of the Conference is English and the delegates follow some of the Rules of Procedure used in real UN sessions. The event will take place from October 19 to October 21 2023. Our Conference will gather 137 Delegates from all over Europe to engage in one of the most memorable experiences Szczecin has to offer.

During the Conference, the participants will have a chance to become delegates of nations of their choice and to represent those countries on the international forum in order to create resolutions on the most burning global issues. StetiMUN offers a wide variety of possible topics as this year there is a total of eight different committees and every one of them is unique in the issues it will be covering:

  • Security Council: TBA
  • United Nations Development Programne: Exploring ways of eradicating poverty and reducing urban slum areas in megacities worldwide.
  • Economic and Social Council: Protecting the intellectual property rights in e-commerce industry.
  • Human Rights Council: Human rights implications of new and emerging technologies.
  • World Health Organization:Examining the role of religious beliefs and exemptions in healthcare in respect of medical malpractice and negligence.
  • United Nations Commission on the Status of Women: Discussing and improving the situation of women in Afghanistan with emphasis on prohibition of going to university and no access to healthcare.
  • North Atlantic Treaty Organization: Enhancing and re-developing the defensive strategy and a sufficient response to the recent tensions caused by the Russian state.
  • United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime: Examining the Member States’ approach towards gun control and discussing its influence on crime rates.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                But the Conference will not only be about competing in committees and the General Assembly. StetiMUN will feature a get-together event on the eve of the Opening Ceremony, where the delegates will be able to acquaint themselves with each other as well as with the Secretariat and staff members. It will also be a chance for the participants to ask their Chairs and Presidents about the Rules of Procedure and to get familiar with them.

We are proud to have the opportunity to host a Model United Nations Conference and warmly invite even those less interested in politics to come and experience the one-of-a-kind magic of MUNs.

More about MUN

Model United Nations Conference is an occasion for everyone interested in global affairs to try and solve the current burning issues of our world by allowing its participants to jump into international politics for three days. During the Conference those involved get to work as delegates of nations of their choice in some of the Councils and Committees of the UN. MUNs are aimed at raising awareness of those involved about the current political and humanitarian issues. By hosting one of such events we are hoping to inspire the participants to engage in real politics in the future and help with developing a way of thinking which focuses on the safety of our planet.

During the few days of the Conference, the participants will debate both in their Committees and the General Assembly. They will also experience backstage political deals, lobbying for national interests and will get to draft their own resolutions on given issues. The delegates will have a chance to become familiar with some of the official rules of procedure used during real United Nations sessions and will have to learn it in order to fully take part in the Conference. And while MUNs are a one-of-a-kind opportunity to get fully immersed in serious matters, they are also a place where great memories are created and beautiful new friendships are struck up. Despite the sharp competition in their Committees and the General Assembly, the delegates always find the time to drop their political agendas for a moment and get to know each other better. It is not uncommon for silly mistakes to be made or for the debates to take a funny turn but it only enhances the overall experience and makes the participants wish that MUNs lasted for much longer than only a few days.

The Conferences are focused on raising the overall awareness of young people of the world’s issues but the incredible way in which it is achieved is what makes them one of very unique experiences. We strongly encourage even those less confident in politics to attend, as, in the end, it is all about having a good time.

About our school

II Liceum im. Mieszka I in Szczecin is among the leading schools in the region and is one of the centres of the city’s cultural life. The quality education that the students receive here is renowned nationwide. Every year we celebrate many successes of those interested in all kinds of sciences, arts and sports.  Our teachers are focused on preparing us for adult life by showing us different ways of critical thinking and helping us with establishing a moral view of the world. II LO is also home to an IB class in which international ways of both teaching and learning are executed with the highest degree of professionalism.

The school is famous for its long history and numerous traditions. However, its main trademark is the beautiful spot in which it’s located. Henryka Pobożnego street is only a few minutes' walk away from the renowned Chrobry’s Ramparts and a vast, spectacular Żeromski’s Park. Every spring and summer both of those places are filled with our students, who very much enjoy themselves during breaks from intensive learning.

The atmosphere of II LO is also one of the most recognized in Szczecin. Immediately after entering the school in their first-year students feel a part of a massive, consisting of about 800 people community, in which even the teachers actively participate. Every year the student board organizes parties as well as minor actions to make everyone feel at home. The friendly and warm feelings dominating the corridors are what the graduates remember the most and what they often come back for.

We are proud to represent this school and especially thankful to it for how it has been teaching us how to think globally. It is this particular skill that allowed us to pick up an interest in MUNs and later organize our own one. We are glad to have become a part of II LO’s legacy.
